If your someone you love, your mother or father, brother or sister, friend, partner, or spouse is struggling with your being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, here is a great organization. You and your family and friends may wish to attend this organization’s meetings held once a month here in Chico.

Parents, Families, & Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is an international organization with over 500 chapters nationwide.

Chico PFLAG was first established many years ago by Harlen and Lois Adams, parents of a gay son. Harlen Adams, after whom the Harlen Adams Theatre was named, was a professor at Chico State and advocated for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and those who are transgender long before it became popular to do so.

Parents, Families, & Friends of Lesbians and Gays is open to everyone and anyone who has a relationship to the issue. The meetings are spent sharing with one another what it means to be the parent or family member of an LGBT*QI+ child or to be LGBT*QI+ oneself. This group meets for two hours, once a month. Open sharing, courageous stories, tears at times, and laughter characterize these meetings.
